POLYMER CLAY

Various works made in polymer clay. Colors are mixed using a pasta machine, shapes are assembled like rolls of sushi into logs that can be reduced and sliced to reveal a unique image. Millefiori, used in both clay and glasswork, is the main technique used within this practice, though other methods have been invented and employed to achieve specific imagery.

Media: Staedtler Fimo, gold leaf, various jewelry findings and closures.

11" x 14" x "0.25. Each pattern is pieced together, condensed, sliced thinly and meticulously pressed into place. Beginning with a base of scrap clay, every fine line and every shade of gradient is laid on top to form a complex, abstract expression. This layered polymer clay mosaic encompasses a love for color, detail and stylization. Inspired by natural forms, botanical specimens and microscopic organisms.
